Fibre Cement Board

Fibre Cement Board Stack

Fibre cement board is a versatile building material that is made by combining cement, cellulose fibers, and other additives. It is commonly used in the construction industry for its durability, strength, and resistance to various environmental conditions.

1. Raw Material Preparation

Cement, sand, cellulose fibers (usually from wood pulp), and other additives such as silica, fly ash, and additives for water resistance are gathered and prepared in specific proportions.

2. Mixing

The dry ingredients are thoroughly mixed together to ensure uniform distribution. Water is added gradually to form a slurry.

3. Forming

The slurry is poured onto a moving mesh or wire screen and spread evenly. A vacuum may be applied to remove excess water and improve the density of the mixture.

4. Pressing

The formed slurry is then subjected to high pressure to compress and remove additional water from the mixture.

5. Autoclaving

The boards are cut into desired sizes and transferred to an autoclave, which is a high-pressure steam chamber. The autoclave cures the boards under controlled temperature and pressure, promoting the chemical reaction between the cement and water (hydration process) to strengthen the material.

6. Finishing

After autoclaving, the boards are trimmed to the desired dimensions and may undergo surface treatments, such as sanding or coating, to enhance their appearance and improve durability.
